Welcome to the Counseling Center's online Community Provider Database. Please use this database to identify mental health services in the Harrisonburg community that are best suited to your needs. The majority of providers on this list are on the bus route or within walking distance from James Madison University campus.

Should you need additional support in connecting with a community provider, please contact the Counseling Center at (540) 568-6552 and request to speak with the Case Manager.


If you currently, or in the future, find yourself dealing with a personal crisis which necessitates immediate attention by a mental health professional (e.g., suicidal or homicidal thoughts or actions, sexual assault, death of a significant person), your options are:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM: Call the CC (540-568-6552) or come to the Counseling Center located on the third floor of the Student Success Center. A CC clinician will assess your situation with you and assist you with securing the services you need.
  • After hours:
  • Students who reside in JMU on-campus housing should contact JMU Public Safety (540-568-6911) who will assess the situation and, if necessary, contact the Counseling Center Clinician on call. Alternatively, on-campus students may go to the Emergency Room at Sentara RMH Medical Center, 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA, 22801, (540-689-1414).
  • Students who reside in the Harrisonburg community should contact the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Community Services Board (540-434-1766). Alternatively, off-campus students may go to the Emergency Room at Sentara RMH Medical Center, 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA, 22801, (540-689-1414).
